M Watson Accountancy Services Ltd

Professional and Affordable Accountancy and Taxation Services for the Smaller Business

Our portfolio of clients mainly consists of small companies and individuals that are commonly based around the Redcar and Cleveland area, since this is where we are based, but we are happy to deal with clients from further afield, and indeed we have a handful of clients located around the country. We are also happy to welcome business start-ups as well as established businesses.

We use powerful software fully compliant with HMRC and Companies House to ensure your details are accurately prepared and submitted in the correct formats required. We have software compliant with the MTD for VAT platform, and we can assist you to file your VAT returns via data conversion and bridging software if your records are not compliant, or if you use Spreadsheets.

More details about our services can be found on our home page.

We are a modern accountancy practice incorporated in November 2015, operated by the company owner and director Mark Watson FFA FIPA. We hold a current practising certificate issued by The Institute of Financial Accountants. In addition, we are fully regulated, fully supervised for Money Laundering Regulations 2017, and registered with the ICO and comply fully with the requirements of the GDPR which came into force in May 2018.

The company began to trade in February 2016 with the mission from the outset of providing friendly, professional, and affordable accountancy and taxation services for the smaller business. Since then, our client base has continued to grow.

About the Company

About Mark Watson  FFA FIPA

I have worked in the accountancy and taxation profession now for over thirty years, commencing my studies in October 1991.

By 1996, I had qualified as an Accounting Technician, and continued to work for local practice. During this time I began to see and realise that Small Businesses were suffering due to high accountancy fees, and often lack of support in favour of bigger clients, and so decided I could potentially capitalise on this and start a small practice aimed specifically at this sector of the market, and above all, charge fairer prices.

I therefore set about a home study course with the ACCA, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant early in 2015.

Shortly afterwards in 2016 I became a qualified member of the Institute of Financial Accountants, and set up my company and practise with a Practising Certificate issued by them. I chose the IFA as they, like myself, focus on Smaller Entities.

One of the many things my clients have commented on is that I am not a stereotypical accountant. They like how I take a no-frills, down to earth approach, and how I explain accountancy and taxation matters to them in a "Plain English" jargon-free way, safe in the knowledge that all their taxation and accounts matters are up to date and correctly taken care of.
